Want a new and better way to get a full body workout? Tired of those boring workout routines? If you want to find a healthy, new way to get in shape, burn calories and improve your tennis skills… try Cardio Tennis! It is a new fun group activity that pushes your fitness to a new level. People of all abilities, from beginners to professionals, can participate in Cardio Tennis. It’s a great way to meet people and have fun while doing a high energy workout.
The Cardio Tennis programme includes a short dynamic warm-up and a cardio cool down phase. The workout phase includes fast-paced drills based on players’ abilities and fitness levels. Your cardio rate will be supervised throughout the workout with personal heart monitors.
This programme is run by Certified Cardio Tennis professional Matthew McGann. Matthew, our tennis coach based here in Enniskillen, is one of only twelve certified coaches for this new fitness programme in the whole of Ireland!

On Friday 11th April there was a great buzz at the Enniskillen Tennis Club. Everyone was welcomed to an open night for Cardio Tennis. This new, fast and fun workout was enjoyed by all present. Before everyone tucked into some lovely food, Matthew Mc Gann, our local certified tennis professional, started the evening by getting everybody straight onto court to get warmed up. Participants wore their heart monitors in order to stay in their optimum cardio zone. While the music played everyone was having fun trying out the drills and games.

Those taking part included both tennis players and those new to the sport. James Smith was one of those present. He had never tried Cardio Tennis before and when asked what he thought of it he said, “I was very impressed with cardio tennis because it is lots of fun, but it still pushes you. Men and women of all ages can partake; it’s definitely worth joining up! “. People who have enjoyed this form of workout over the last six months agree it is beneficial both for burning calories and for getting fitter in a very enjoyable atmosphere.
At the open night new benefits for joining Cardio Tennis were announced. After every six sessions completed, members can enjoy a little reward as a thank you from Louise McGann, the business woman behind Cardio Tennis here in Fermanagh and Tyrone.
